Have You Ever Hit A 9 Dart Finish?

Have you ever played the perfect game of darts and hit a 9 dart finish? If not, what's the closest you have come to it?

6 perfect darts, 7, maybe even 8 perfect darts into the magical 9?

I have missed double 12 for a perfect leg but before you get all impressed, let me explain and confess a few of the details to you.

When this near miss occurred, I wasn't playing a league match or anything like that. In fact I wasn't even playing an opponent or even a leg of 501.

What actually happened was, I was simply practicing my scoring on the treble 20 when I hit a maximum score of 180. My next 3 darts was another maximum 180 so I pretended that I was playing a 501 leg and had left myself 141. I nailed the treble 20, smack bang in the middle. The treble 19 went in exactly as planned. All that was left was the double and if I hit it, I would have thrown the perfect 9 darts......Even though I wasn't playing an opponent and there was nobody there, I will admit, nerves got the better of me.

I did wire the double 12 so it wasn't a bad dart but nerves, pressure, call it what you will, certainly got the better of me. In fact, I missed the next 3 darts at the double too so ended up with 13 darter.

How the pro's with all those fans watching manage to keep composed is beyond me....hats off too 'em.

How close have I came to the perfect leg in a competitive match? I have never ever started a leg with a maximum 180 so the answer to that question is.......Not very!!!

Oh, and at the time of writing this, there has been 46 televised 9 dart finishes by 23 different players. Mind boggling!!!

What about any of you reading this? Just how close have you come to the holy grail of darts?
