2016 Premier League Darts Preview

Premier League Darts 2016 - Week 1 Preview

Grab your Dart Board Branded Sky Remote, make sure your favourite tipple is chilled in the fridge and sit back and enjoy the action.

Yes darts fans, its that time of year again where every Thursday evening, the PDC circus rolls into a town or city somewhere across the UK and Ireland (Also the Netherands this year) and darts fans as well as people simply looking for a good time or to get very drunk, come out in the thousands and fill arenas to capacity.

Its also very common to see people in Fancy Dress For The Darts as it is at almost every darts event these days.

Now I have to be honest, I loved the Premier League Darts when it first started waaay back in 2005. There's something about the event now though that I find quite boring. Maybe it's the fact that its the same players (10) playing each week. I dunno, I just find it boring now I guess and very repetitive.

I much prefer other tournaments where you get to see new faces or players who aren't on the TV every week. The Masters that was on last week is also an even that I don't really care for. The top 16 players were in it, you know, the same 16 players you see in every tournament.

Anyway, I would still rather the darts was on than not so that's enough of me moaning!!!

So tonight the the tournament starts and week 1 will be held at the First Direct Arena in Leeds and the only debutant / new face will be The Bully Boy Michael Smith.

Here's tonight's fixtures:

2016 Betway Premer League Night One - February 4 First Direct Arena, Leeds

Peter Wright v Michael Smith
Michael van Gerwen v James Wade
Phil Taylor v Raymond van Barneveld
Gary Anderson v Adrian Lewis
Robert Thornton v Dave Chisnall

As usual, the first to 7 legs wins for 2 points or a 6 - 6 draw will gain 1 point.

An interesting thing has been added this year in that the eventual player who tops the table after all 15 weeks have been played, will receive a £25000 bonus. This of course is before the top 4 players progress to finals night.

Looking at tonight's games I'm going to pick Wright, MVG, Anderson and Chizzy to win and I fancy the Taylor v Barney match to be a draw.

I will probably be wrong on most of these as they are all capable of beating each other as past Premier Leagues have prove this.

I hope you enjoy tonight's games....I know I will, especially as I have some cans of Guinness chilling in the fridge.....Happy Days!!!
