Do You Get Angry When You Play Darts?

Personally I never get angry when I'm playing darts..........OK OK that is a blatant lie.

I am however, very good at not showing my emotions. In fact, people often say I would make a good poker player. Now don't get me wrong, if I'm playing very poorly or have made a stupid mistake then believe you me, I'm furious with myself but I keep it inside so my opponent doesn't suspect that I'm rattled in any way.

Of course, many people show their emotions whether they are winning or losing.....wearing their heart on their sleeve is how it's often put.

In the professional game, emotions run high and there's a hell of a lot at stake, most notably, money. At the end of the day, for most professional darts players you see on the TV, the modern game is their source of income so you can understand the pressures and often the reactions that occur during games.

Often you see a player get angry not with themselves, put their opponent. This usually happens when a player things their opponent is putting them off on purpose.....referred to as gamesmanship.

Some players don't let it bother them....others let the other player know exactly what they think of them which can be quite amusing at times.

Then there's the modern day crowds. Gone are the "hush hush" days when everybody had to be silent once a player toed the oche. Now, in the PDC anyway, it's like a football match and very rarely is good order given when the players are throwing and in many cases, when a match is about to end, the crowd do their best to put the player off and make them miss the chance to win the game. Personally I find this very poor taste and bang out of order. Most of the people doing this are not genuine fans and are simply there to have a big drink and a party. Having said that, it's because of these fans and the party style atmosphere that the PDC actively encourage, that darts has become what it has and now gives the top players the chance to be very wealthy indeed.....I still don't like the football style crowds though and probably never will.
